Everest Photo for What…??!
By | August 22, 2011
…Over years I have been lucky enough to have photographic images that both me and members of The Everest Peace Project have taken to have been featured in magazines like Nat Geo, and inside text books, on book covers, on corporate websites, TV shows, and probably got requests for everything else you can imagine!
But wait…not so fast; can you image this:
A few weeks ago I got an email from a woman named Rhonda Graham; she requested the Everest image that National Geographic used as a main spread last year to be used and printed on her prosthetic leg! What the f…I thought. At first I actually thought it was a joke.
It wasn’t.
Turns out that Rhonda not only wanted the image to be put on her leg - but she wanted it there to help to inspire and motivate her for her upcoming trek to Everest base camp in October! Wow - that is really cool - here is this woman who I believe is in her late 50’s or even 60’s who is going to trek to Everest base camp with only one leg! That takes courage and a lot of gumption. And so Rhonda to you: me and the EPP team bow down to you in respect! We wish you a safe adventure. And remember it’s not just about the destination but the journey and no where else is the journey more beautiful than in the Everest region of Nepal!
And so here is the final outcome of how the photo looks on her new prosthesis.
In peace…
